HORSE DRAWN VEHICLES ON HWY 49, FRIDAY & SATURDAY, APRIL 28 & 29
JACKSON, CA - Motorists on Hwy 49 in northern Amador County should allow extra time for their morning commute on Friday, April 28.
The horse-drawn covered wagons of the Kit Carson Mountain Man Wagon Train will be traveling on Hwy 49 from the Amador Co. Fairgrounds in Plymouth to Drytown, between 8 – 10 am. Later in the afternoon, the wagon train will travel on Hwy 49 from Old Hwy 49 at Sutter Hill to the Italian Picnic Grounds.
Saturday morning, the wagon train route will enter Hwy 49 in Martell at Industry Blvd. and exit the highway at Depot Road, taking Jackson Gate Road the rest of the way to Jackson Main St for a visit before heading to the Kennedy Mine to camp.
The horses travel between two and three miles per hour. Vehicle traffic will be allowed to pass the wagon train where there are passing lanes on the highway.
The three-day journey for the Wagon Train will start at the Amador County Fairgrounds and loop through Plymouth and the Shenandoah Valley on Thursday, travel through Drytown, Amador City and Sutter Creek to the Italian Picnic Grounds on Friday, and on to the Kenney Mine in Jackson on Saturday.
